Postop X-rays for patient's convenience
In our practice, we often see patients who have had surgery in St. Louis and come to us for postoperative x-rays rather than driving back to St. Louis for x-ray check-ups. One of our PAs recently saw a patient who falls into this scenario. The patient is still in the global period, but we are not taking over postoperative care. Our PA is wondering if we can charge an office visit, but I thought we could only charge the x-ray since the patient is in the global period for the same body area we are x-raying. Essentially, the patient had x-rays here and will they will be forwarded to St. Louis for the surgeon to review and determine if patient can return to sports. Any insight or suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you in advance!
